Navigate + Save our Biodiversity

The presence of invasive species, weeds, garbage and boat pollution reduces water quality and hinders aquatic biodiversity.

What can you do?

  • Wash your boat, motor, trailer and empty your ballast bags before launching.
  • Use biodegradable, phosphate-free soaps and cleaners.
  • Stay clear of milfoil grass-beds…milfoil spreads with cuttings.
  • Keep your garbage on the boat and dispose later at home.

Washing Stations

Taxpayers in both municipalities will not have to pay for the washing of their boats, but they will have to provide proof that their boats have been properly cleaned at the municipal washing station. Non-residents will have to pay $25 to wash their boats before launching them at the boat launches of Lac Long & Lac Morissette. Boat washing stations are located at the Blue Sea Municipal Office and at the Lac Long Recreation Center,

Free for non-motorized watercrafts.

Wash your boat !!

"Aquatic invasive species can cling to boats and watercraft, or be transported through standing water to new bodies of water. You can protect our lakes and rivers from aquatic invasive species by ensuring that you clean, drain and dry your boat and equipment "

(Canadian Council on Invasive Species)
