Eurasian Water-milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum)
OUR BIGGEST WORRY
- Eurasian water-milfoil is an invasive plant that has been found in lakes in Québec since 1958.
- It is now the number one invasive plant in freshwater lakes in Canada.
- The plants can grow up to 3-4m long and spread quickly.
- Feather-like leaves can easily break off and root themselves where they land.
- Many lakes in our area including Lac Blue Sea, Lac Edjia, and Petit lac des cedres, are already combating this invasive plant.
The washing of all boats and watercrafts (including canoes, kayaks and paddle boards) and other water accessories like inflatable toys, pool noodles and paddles before use in Lac Long or Lac Morissette is essential to prevent introduction to our lakes.
